Centennial Park Cemetery War Graves

In the First World War more than 400,000 and in the Second almost 1,000,000 men and women served in the Australian armed forces.

The Centennial Park Cemetery contains the graves of 215 servicemen and women of the Second World War, most of who died in the Daw Park Repatriation Hospital from war related wounds, accident or illness. One hundred and ninety-eight of these burials are situated in the War Cemetery with the remaining 17 scattered throughout the general cemetery.

This site honours the final resting place of 1 RN, 6 RAN, 153 Australian Army, 1 NZ Army, 1 RAF and 53 RAAF. One Australian veteran of the First World War is also buried in this cemetery.

In this cemetery stands the South Australian Cremation Memorial on which 9 casualties are commemorated, comprising 1 RAN, 6 Australian Army and 2 RAAF.

This cemetery and memorial were constructed and are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
