The earliest memorial I could find commemorated the death of one who died during the 1894 Typhoid epidemic, land was dedicated for this cemetery in 1867.

The Church of England section of this cemetery which also has Roman Catholic, Methodist and Presbyterian sections was consecrated in June 1894.
