St.Albans Cemetery

Situated on the Pinjarra Williams Rd, Marradong in the Shire of Boddington.

Transcribed by Jill Bickmore & Carol Riley 9th June 2003

Updated October  2006

The bell tower was erected to the memory of Arthur Batt, Thomas Farmer, John Pollard & George Cowcher.  A.D. 1920

On April 17th 1894 the foundation stone for St. Alban’s Church was laid by Arthur Batt. The Arthur Batt who was actually supposed to lay the foundation stone, inexplicably, failed to turn up at the ceremony. As the stone was already inscribed, his son, also Arthur Batt, took his place.

In 1895, Bishop Riley performed the official dedication ceremony.  F.C.Gillett was the first rector. The altar is dedicated to soldier Eustace John Tennant, who was killed in the First World War.

The Church interior is predominantly polished jarrah floors, pews and furnishings, with stained glass windows.

The cemetery is located in the church grounds.
